What we cover
Almost everything here is about growing herbs in pots, indoors, in ordinary rooms with ordinary light. That is a narrower problem than gardening and it fails in its own particular ways: too little light, too much water, a radiator, a cold window. Most of our guides are about one of those.
Every herb we cover also gets its own reference page, with the light and water it wants and the mistakes it is prone to. Browse the herb index.
Who writes it
Our growing guides are written by people with real horticultural training. Amanda Shiffler holds an M.Sc. in agronomy and a B.Sc. in horticultural science. Francesca Singer is a landscape architect and former farmer. Nick Brisson founded the site and Jon Persson runs the design.
